Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, Porsche Carrera Cup GB: an eighth year in association with SACRED Gourmet Coffee, Partnership
Porsche Carrera Cup GB extends partnership with SACRED Gourmet Coffee for 2017

Leading London Coffee and Tea Brand, SACRED, will be extending its association with the UK’s fastest single marque GT racing championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, for 2017.

While the 460 hp engine of the Porsche ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 Cup provides the power on the track, off the track Sacred has been powering the Porsche paddock with their 100% Arabica gourmet coffee roast since 2010. Both the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Sacred Cafes have evolved significantly over the following years, with Sacred Cafes launching its own range of Nespresso™ compatible coffee capsules late last year.

An addition to the weekend hospitality on offer to guests, if not drivers, will be SACRED Blonde Ale. The result of a collaboration between SACRED London and London’s Rocky Head Brewery, SACRED Blonde Ale is made with hops from New Zealand and will be served in the Porsche Race Centre on Saturdays and Sundays alongside SACRED Coffee Stout Ale.

2017 will be the eighth year of the association with SACRED Gourmet Coffee and the fifteenth season of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. For the second year in a row, Sacred is also providing a £1,000 prize for the ‘Sacred Most Improved Driver of the Year'. The award will be made to the driver who has made the most progress throughout the 2017 season, and in 2016 was taken by Pro category driver Alessandro Latif (GT Marques). Drivers in all categories are eligible and will need to have consistently impressed a panel made up of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB organisers.

Tubbs Wanigasekera, Managing Director of SACRED said: “Sacred will be entering its eighth year alongside the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year, and over that time we have seen both our business and the championship evolve significantly.

“In some cases we have also been able to play a part in the growth of individual drivers within the Porsche Motorsport pyramid. For example, in 2016 Porsche GB Scholar Charlie Eastwood took our branding to an outright win and the Rookie title. We also supported former race winner Ben Barker in his debut season racing a Porsche 911 RSR in the World Endurance Championship, which included the 24 Hours of Le Mans where we supplied gourmet coffee for the Gulf Racing team during the entire event.

“In the same spirit, we are delighted to be able to offer a financial reward and recognition to the driver who makes the biggest progress in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB throughout 2017. There are a lot of talented newcomers and existing competitors, so we expect the award to be a close contest.”

James MacNaughton, Motorsport Manager, Porsche Cars GB commented: “Sacred Coffee and Cafes has been an integral part of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB paddock for a long time, and represents just one of the long term partners that the championship has established a successful, enduring relationship with. Part of what makes the championship so appealing is stability and continuity.

“Within that, both the championship and Sacred are constantly looking at ways to improve. In this spirit, the ‘Sacred Most Improved Driver of the Year' award gives us the opportunity to recognise an outstanding season’s progress, whatever the driver’s experience.”

The winner of the ‘Sacred Most Improved Driver of the Year' award will be announced at the annual end of season awards held in November, when Tubbs Wanigasekera will present the successful driver with their prize.
