Porsche (China) Motors Limited to recall part of imported 911 Carrera 4S vehicles

Commencing from August, 17th, 2020, Porsche (China) Motors Limited will recall part of imported 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S vehicles manufactured on October 29, 2019. The recall was filed by Porsche China to the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the Defective Automobile Products Recall Regulation and its implementation measures. The recall will affect a total of 1 vehicle in China’s mainland.

For vehicles involved in the recall, due to the process error at supplier, the threaded joints on the front axle differential may not be tightened according to the final specified torque. After driving for a period of time, the loose threaded joints may cause a relative movement of the front axle differential beyond its intended position, thereby damaging the surrounding components, such as the fuel tank or drive shafts. In extreme conditions, the damaged fuel tank might lead to fuel leakage and further cause a risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source, posing a safety hazard.

Porsche China will check the front axle differential assembly and surrounding components for all vehicles affected free of charge, as well as replace the relevant components for any consequential damage. At the same time, the new threaded joints will be installed on the front axle differential assembly according to the final specified torque to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Emergency measures: Before the recall, if customer find loud knocking noises and vibrations in front of the vehicle while driving, the customer should stop driving and leave the vehicle, then immediately contact the nearest Porsche Centre. After recall taking effect, the customer should also contact with nearest Porsche Centre to check and repair the vehicle to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Porsche China will notify the relevant owners via registered mail. Users are encouraged to visit Porsche China's official website or call the customer service centre hotline on 400 820 5911 or Porsche authorized dealers to find out more information about this recall. In addition, users can also visit the website dpac.samr.gov.cn and www.recall.org.cn, or follow WeChat account (SAMRDPAC) to learn more information and submit defect clues.
