Porsche Macan GTS: The thoroughbred sports car among SUVsMore performance, more driving dynamics, sportier looks

Australia. Porsche is releasing the GTS version of the Macan with the promise of even sportier performance over the already acclaimed driving dynamics of its compact SUV.

More power, a re-engineered chassis and upgraded brakes provide the main hardware changes for the Macan GTS. In terms of power, its 265 kW (360 hp) place the GTS in between the Macan S (250 kW) and the Macan Turbo (294 kW). While keeping the twin turbocharged V6 with the same 3.0-litre displacement of the Macan S, changes to the engine’s tuning result in the 15 kW power hike for the GTS. Peak torque is a high 500 Nm.

And so the Macan GTS completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.2 second – and in just 5.0 seconds flat with the optional Sport Chrono package. Top speed is 256 km/h.

Power is transferred via Porsche’s Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with flexible power distribution to all four wheels.

The Macan GTS combines a high level of typical Porsche driving dynamics with outstanding everyday usability and a typically muscular GTS body package. A sportier tuning of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a 15mm lower ride height compared to the S, along with 20-inch RS Spyder design wheels in matt black paint finish are special features of the GTS.

Also in keeping with the style are the special GTS sport seats as well as a full-sounding sports exhaust system and alcantara interior features. At the same time, the new PCM connectivity and infotainment system with multi-touch monitor, extended functions and more operating comfort makes its debut in a Porsche SUV.

The Macan GTS is instantly recognisable by its exterior accents in black – in high gloss above the waistline and in a lustrous matt finish in the lower areas of the body – and by a special version of the Sport Design package also in GTS-specific colour.

And for the first time the Macan GTS is available with LED headlights as an option. These lights guarantee optimum illumination of the road under all conditions.

With the arrival of the Macan GTS Porsche is underlining its claim that the Macan is the sports car among compact SUVs. The Macan GTS is now on sale in Australia priced from $109,500.

Coinciding with the launch of the Macan GTS, Porsche Cars Australia (PCA) has increased the level of standard specification for the rest of the local Macan range for Model Year 2017 (from January production onwards.)

Additional standard equipment will now include Digital Radio, Lane Departure Warning, three-zone climate control and the new Porsche Communication Management system (PCM) including Voice Control.

The extra standard specification is reflected in the minor price adjustment for the Model Year 2017 Macan:
